Trish | Mini Maternity Session

My littlest sister, Trish, is having her second baby in about a month!   I'm very excited to meet my newest niece or nephew (I know what it is but maybe they are not sharing)!  I was there for Hannah's birth and I'm hoping I'm there for the little ones arrival.  We get back from a large trip on her due date...Last time I had more of a support role but this time I would be there as the photographer.  We'll see!

These photos were sort of last minute (we had changed the date) and we wanted to do them when Hannah was happy, so they were at 3 pm.  Not ideal on a bright sunny day, but we got a few.  Little did we know, Hannah had food poisoning as we were soon to find out.  She was not the happiest little girl and did not let Trish put her down (I actually photoshopped her out on the two photos of Trish by herself !).  Poor girl, had we known how she was feeling we wouldn't have done them.  Well, she was a trooper and we got some keepers.

Here are just a few pictures of my lil sis and her girl Hannah.  Trish, you are a beautiful momma!  Enjoy!

Spring Maternity Session | Derby Reach

 I met Shannon through church as we spent time together in the nursery and at our Ladies Morning Out that meets once a week.  Shannon just started out a photography business so we have been in touch a lot more lately as she figures out all the ins and outs of having a business.  You can check it out here

Somehow this maternity session was scheduled on one of the first days of Spring when the weather was AMAZING!!!   LOVE IT.

Shannon and John are parents to two energetic little girls and are expecting a baby boy in May!  We had a mini session to capture this special time in their lives.  Because the girls did so well during the session, they got to go geocaching!! Now that's the kind of treat that our family likes as well :)

Looking forward to meeting your little guy!  Enjoy.

Rachel & Andrew | Studio Maternity Session

Rachel and Andrew are anticipating the arrival of baby #3 in just a few short weeks. I can't believe that Asher and Ian are going to be big brothers so soon! The wonderful thing about having a studio in our basement is that if the weather is terrible (which seems to be the case so much throughout January-March), we can do sessions there. The kids are warm and cozy and have a lot of toys to stay busy with while mom and dad have their photos taken:)

You might remember their extended family photos from exactly a year ago here. I hope you enjoy the photos of Rachel's 36 week belly and her beautiful family! I can't wait to see who's in there in just a few weeks!!!

Rachel, you look fantastic and I can't wait to hear the exciting news about Asher and Ian's little sibling:)

Denise & Nico | Maternity Session

Last weekend, I met up with this cute couple who are expecting their first baby in just a few more weeks. Denise came super prepared with a `few' outfits and props and Nico came with a great attitude and smile. Perfect combo!

We did half of the session in studio and half in the great outdoors. We have a few parks just blocks from our house so that allows time for both. Denise and Nico, I had a great time with you two and I'm looking forward to meeting that little one next month!

Yay for a sunny day in February with a fabulous couple:)

Nico & Denise | Maternity Session Sneak Peek

I had a wonderful maternity session with Nico and Denise this weekend. They came seriously prepared with some awesome wardrobe changes:) I will be working on their photos this week but here's just one of them that I liked. Yay for beautiful blue skies!

Jackie & Tyler | Maternity Session

Jackie is my second youngest sister and is due in just two weeks. I'm so excited for Jackie and Tyler, and I know, based on the evidence of watching them with my two monkey boys, that they will be wonderful parents. As a side note, in case you didn't know, I have four sisters and all five of us are pregnant! Fun times:)

Jackie and Tyler weren't sure if they wanted maternity photos but I'm glad I bugged them a time or two because I love the pictures we got of them. We started with a few in studio but due to the fact that these two are adventurous nature lovers, we went to the great outdoors where we got the majority of great shots.

As you can probably see from the interactions in the photos, these two have a very natural, comfortable, and beautiful relationship. They know each other so well and they have a lot of fun together. Enjoy:)

{This might sound weird, but I love how Jackie's hair is complimented by the grass. Also, I know there are a lot of similar looking pictures but I loved so many of them and there are so many more:)}

{Aren't they so cute?!}

{So glad we could spend this time together. I am sooooo looking forward to meeting your little one and see you go from not only husband and wife, but to father and mother!}

Trish at 35 Weeks | Maternity Session

I did a mini session for my little sister about a month ago and you can check it out here. Then, this past weekend I had another mini session with her and her husband Steve. Being that Steve LOVES photos so much (note sarcasm) we limited it to just 20 minutes. The priority was hands on belly. Check! Also, just like their wedding day, Steve had some good injuries to his fingers, but nothing that photoshop can't fix:) And yes, there were a lot of pictures with the white background but I'm a little partial to the black background ones so those are the ones I will post for now...

Steve and Trish, I'm totally looking forward to meeting my little niece!!

Trish at 31 Weeks | Maternity Session

I have four sisters and the youngest three are actually pregnant right now! Trish, the youngest, is the furthest along at 31 weeks with her first. We do have an official maternity session lined up next month but we thought we would take advantage of the sun on Thursday and had a super mini session with my two kids in tow. I would never normally take my kids along but being that it was last minute, and with my sister, it was totally fine:)

Here are a few:)

Ashley & Kevin | Maternity Session

I love baby bellies. A lot. Some people ask why you would ever want to have maternity photos done and I think there are so many reasons. It captures a special time in your life while you are awaiting the arrival of a little one. Awaiting someone that will change your lives more than you ever imagined. It captures that anticipation, excitement, love and joy. Also, for me, it just showed me how big my belly really was:) The human body is amazing.

This sweet couple came for a maternity session when Ashley was about 35 weeks pregnant. How did they meet, you ask? Well, they were neighbours. Ashley's dog kept going to Kevin's house and that is how they got to know each other. They've been together for 5 years now. I love that although a maternity session might not have been Kevin's idea of a fun time, he had such a great attitude and was just really involved. You can tell how much he loves Ashley by their sweet interactions. Enjoy.

{Baby girl on the way!}

{My absolute favourite maternity shots are always the black and white's with the black background. While other photos may say `Fun!' or `Cute!', these ones just say, `Beautiful'. }

{Congratulations Ashley and Kevin. It was a joy getting to know you and to capture you two together. I hope that you enjoy the next month or so, as you await your precious daughter. So exciting!}

Ali | Maternity Session

My friend Ali was over the other day and we had a bit of a maternity session. She is due in about one month and I can't wait! I was there when Caden was born (my first birth session!) and hope to be able to make it for this little ones arrival too!

The middle picture, below, makes me laugh. Instead of a gentle kiss, it pretty much looked like he devoured her belly:)
I know it's a lot of belly/hand shots but a pregnant belly is a beautiful thing:)
When talking to Ali about baby names, we realized that we have pretty much identical boy and girl names chosen out. Being that Ali will be having her baby first (we are adopting), we may just have to copy her:)
Love these last two...
Can't wait for the big day!

Ben & A Baby Belly | Maternity Session

I met with Anita and Jon at Clayburn Village on an overcast January morning and it was perfect! The roads were actually closed due to flooding, but we made it:) Anita is about 37 weeks pregnant and we had a mini session to get to know each other a bit better before birthing day as I will be (hopefully!) capturing those first few moments/hour of life.

I realized that we have a lot in common in the short amount of time we were together. Like Gary and I, they are both teachers with a science background. Both Gary and Jon played on a university sports team. Anita is also a photographer (such an honour to photograph a photographer!). Both of us have 2 year old boys and we live very close to each other. That's a whole lot of similarities! Hopefully they like the pictures as much as I do:) Enjoy.
{Ben is showing off his shirt in the above picture. Such a cute smile!}

Anita and Jon (and Ben!), it was great getting to know your family and I'm really looking forward to the big day when we get to meet your little one too!
