Sarah & Daryl: Wedding Day

What a BEAUTIFUL day. Okay, I know I said it in the sneak peek, but it really was. There is something so wonderful about an outdoor ceremony, but maybe I'm biased because ours was one too:) Sarah and Daryl hired us for the ceremony and portrait portion so that's why you won't be seeing any photos of them getting ready or the reception.
{The ceremony was at a beautiful farm in the Sumas Flats}

{Although we had only met with Sarah & Daryl once before, I felt a connection with them as Sarah also lost her mom just a few years before (my mom passed away 4 years ago). Her mom was remembered and honoured throughout the ceremony. }
{There were a few special kids involved in the wedding party and they definitely added to the overall beauty of it}
{You can see the clouds getting a little wilder in the background! This was the one wedding where we didn't bring our umbrellas because it was supposed to have perfect weather!!}

{Sarah's dad has remarried and Sarah now has a new baby sister (see below)!}
{Sarah and her mom's best friend went and had some photos done with a special tree planted for her mom}
{Have you jumped on a trampoline in a wedding dress?! Before this picture was taken, we have a bunch of Sarah on the trampoline with a bunch of young boys bouncing her around}
{The rain clouds came...and went. No umbrellas were needed! Phew!}
{There is a wonderful reason why we visited, and ate at, the Sumas McDonalds. Years ago, back in high school, Daryl and Sarah went to this McDonalds together. Sarah had heard that Daryl was going to ask her to be his girlfriend. Daryl said, `I have a question for you....' (intending to ask her out) `....do you like my shoe?'. Hence, the shoe pose below:) In the end, he did actually ask her out.}
{Don't you love the bouquet?!}

{Sarah had an anklet with a picture of her and her mom on it. At the end of the portrait session, we went to the cemetery to take a few candids of Sarah placing her bouquet at her mother's grave. It was extremely beautiful and intimate. We have some special pictures of it, but I think it's a bit too personal too share. But, you can picture it. I was honoured to be there and I was a bit emotional...the anniversary of my mom's death had been the day before. I think it was so special. I love that Sarah didn't avoid the fact that her mom wasn't there, but, she did what she could to include and honour her mom. }

Sarah and Daryl, thank you so much for including us in your special day. We hope that you are having a super fabulous honeymoon right now! All the best to you as you continue your lives together in Ontario. Congratulations!

Sarah & Daryl: Sneak Peek

What a beautiful wedding. I will share more of why it was so special in their official post, but seriously, check out the ceremony location! Could it be any more amazing? You can also check out the huge rain cloud behind them...yup, there was a good rainstorm but fortunately it didn't affect their day too much. I'm sorry that I'm not posting more pictures right now...I'm in the midst of a lot of editing. Don't worry, it will be worth it!

Mother's Day Mini Session

Two years ago, on their 10th wedding anniversary, we photographed this lovely family. They wanted some updated photos so we had a mini session on Mother's Day, down at Fort Langley. The kids are unbelievably adorable and were super well behaved. I think I have a little assistant in the making because Anna was full of ideas for shots:) What a joy it was to photograph these kiddos!! Here are just a few from my time with them...

Dan & Sara: Wedding Day

What a beautiful wedding this was! I love how they incorporated little pieces of themselves throughout the entire day. They celebrated while including their love for the Earth, music, poetry, family, friends, each other and God. I'll include some cool tidbits along the way....
{Sara is wearing the pearls that her grandmother wore in her wedding 50 years ago. Those are also real flowers in her hair.}
{The girls all wore different teal coloured shoes that made their outfits so fun! The pair in the middle were handmade!}
{Notice below that the ring bearer is carrying a real nest with a plastic egg which contains the rings. They also had a guest tree instead of a guest book.}

{This might sound weird, but I love the way that Dan holds Sara's head whenever they kiss.}
{Queen's Park was within walking distance of the ceremony because they had hoped that their guests would walk to the reception. We took the pictures there, at Queen's Park.}

{Do you see them in the ring below?}
{I'm glad we got them sitting in the grass...had it been summer, it would've been beautiful to see them lying in it. }
{I do love the rainbow wall below!}
{At the reception, they served local, organic food.}
{They even sang to their guests. Please take note of their adorable niece pictured below.}
{They had a friend taking photos of the guests in random dress up gear...a very fun photo booth idea!}

Congratulations to you, Dan and Sara. We truly enjoyed your day and I think that you started your journey together in a very beautiful way.

Sami

I knit a baby cocoon and matching hat and wanted to see how it would actually fit a baby. So, my little 6 week old niece, Sami, came over to try it out. I found out that I'll need to make the next hat a little smaller but overall it fit perfectly. She loved being in it. Isn't she cute?

Julia and Ryan: Engagement Photos

For our engagement shoot with Julia and Ryan, we found out that the Historic Stewart Farm really is a good photo location when it's raining. When I say raining, I mean really, really raining. Fortunately these two were super easy going and not concerned about it one bit. We stayed around the buildings and at one point, Gary may have been up in a tree holding the umbrella above them. I'm excited for their wedding in August because it's going to be an outdoor one in a very fun location. Congratulations you two, it was great getting to know you!
(It was the shot above where Gary was up in the tree)

(I found out that Julia got her BSc at UBC and will be heading back there for her BEd in the fall...just like I did!)
Add Video
(I'm glad we had the opportunity to shoot in the rain. Usually we have to reschedule but you can really make it work in the rain, especially at a place like this.)

Just a few more months 'til the big day...happy wedding planning!
