Kim & Dallas | Wedding Photos

I met with Kim back in the summer and after just a few minutes, I felt like I'd known her for a long time. She is super outgoing and says what's on her mind. After being with her mom and sisters while they were getting ready on the wedding day, I could see that Kim isn't the only funny and strong woman in that family. They had me laughing a lot:) Being that Dallas, her groom to be, lived in Alberta, we wouldn't get a chance to meet him until the big day. All we knew was that he was a laid back country boy who enjoyed photography as well. Dallas and Kim met online and I'm so happy for them that they found each other.

I met up with the girls getting ready at the salon in the morning and then spent some time at Kim's house while they were getting ready....
{It was evident early on that the weather forecast was going to be right. Rain.}

{Kim, like me, is not a super girly girl so it was fun seeing her get her hair and makeup done. Kim, you looked beautiful!}
{Here's Kim's sweet little nephew, Logan. He visited the girls in the office at the church and brought a lot of smiles to everyone's face. So cute.}
{Can you see Kim, above, doing a little dance in the office? Now that's one calm bride! Time for the ceremony....}

{I like the detail of having their initials etched in the glass for the unity sand ceremony.}

{After the receiving line, we went to Fort Langley. Usually if it's raining, it's a pretty good location as there are so many covered areas. However, there were three other weddings parties with the same idea! That's a whole lot of people trying to fit in just a few covered areas. And when I say it was raining, it was really raining:)}

{I wish I could say that it was me who made them laugh, but it was Gary. }
{Her bridesmaids were her two older sisters. They did such a great job of being bridesmaids; calm, helpful and reassuring. Good job, sisters! Not sure if you noticed but Dallas has a camouflage hunting vest, apparently he is quite the hunter as you will see later on.}

{The boys braved the rain for a bit...}

{I don't normally post any family pictures but I'll include a few here. Her mom just had me laughing a lot throughout the day and I may have just made a joke about her talking a bunch:) Also included are the three girls with their little brother Nolan. Yes, he is purposely making that face like his sisters are gross but it is obvious that these siblings are all very close.}

{Time for some more bride and groom photos!}

{These two are so cute together. They remind me of Gary and I in a way, just teasing each other as a way of flirting:) The whole wedding party, and the families, did such a great job with all the rain and all that came it. Good job, team! Then, it was off to the reception.}

{Congratulations Kim and Dallas! It was great getting to know you two and we are so happy for you. Wishing you all the best as you begin your lives together in Alberta.}

Baby Kennedy | Newborn Session

This baby girl was just 9 days old when I met her, her parents, and her two grandmas. She did so well! We had a space heater going on in a spare bedroom and she was super happy in there (while we were super sweaty!). She didn't fall asleep until I packed up my stuff to leave, so she was just sort of in a sleepy state the whole time I was there. Here are some pictures of Michelle and Byron's sweet little 8lb bundle of cuteness:)

She couldn't figure out if she wanted to sleep or if the camera clicking was more interesting...

I included the picture below because this little girl has a long tongue and loves sticking it out:)
The blanket that Kennedy is lying on is actually the one that was Michelle's when she was a baby!
Grandma and Nana each got a few pictures with Kennedy as well. So much love!
The blue outfit that Kennedy is wearing is also sentimental. It's the one that Michelle wore when she came home from the hospital as a baby!

And because I really love baby toes...

Congratulations Michelle and Byron. Your daughter is beautiful and I'm thankful that you had me capture her 9th day at home with you all:)

Happy Spring Break

We hope you are all having a wonderful spring break. We are!

PS We were saving this seastar from seagulls and relocated him to the ocean. Normally I wouldn't let Koen pick it up:)

Ali | Maternity Session

My friend Ali was over the other day and we had a bit of a maternity session. She is due in about one month and I can't wait! I was there when Caden was born (my first birth session!) and hope to be able to make it for this little ones arrival too!

The middle picture, below, makes me laugh. Instead of a gentle kiss, it pretty much looked like he devoured her belly:)
I know it's a lot of belly/hand shots but a pregnant belly is a beautiful thing:)
When talking to Ali about baby names, we realized that we have pretty much identical boy and girl names chosen out. Being that Ali will be having her baby first (we are adopting), we may just have to copy her:)
Love these last two...
Can't wait for the big day!

Sweet Madeleine | Kid Session

Remember how there was a Valentine's Giveaway for a free mini photo shoot? Well this sweet little girl's auntie won it for her. Eighteen month old Madeleine and her momma came to out studio for their mini session. Madeleine did wonderfully in her various outfit changes and had one cute mini meltdown (the 18 month old fake kind) that I may have taken a picture of:)
I love the variety of clothes that mom chose. Madeline was totally at home and I think she liked playing model for a bit.
She loved mom's singing which reminded me that next time I have a little one in studio, I should probably have some kiddie music playing!
Christina and Madeleine, so great to see you two. Thank you for coming to our home and all the best to you this year, it sounds like there are a couple of great adventures ahead of you!

40 Years | Extended Family Session

Melanie contacted me months ago about doing an extended family session to celebrate her parents 40th wedding anniversary. I love photo sessions as gifts because it recognizes one of the most important things; family. Booking at this time of year is always a bit risky but the weather was on our side and there's something fun about dressing in layers. Extended family sessions are great, but also a bit tough because I would love to do a full session with each family:) So, here are some of the photos of 14 fabulous individuals!
{These two kiddos, Sam and Ellah, were the youngest of the bunch. They are so incredibly adorable. Sam reminds me of my son, and Ellah has the cutest outfit and headband on. They were so well behaved and actually wanted their photos taken the whole time.}

{There were a lot of brotherly interactions which gave me a peak into the future. Basically the wrestling will continue:)}

{I hope I look this happy after 35 more years with Gary:)}
{I have a lot of photos of Melanie and Herb together (above) and a lot of them look like they are an engagement session, so cute together. Notice how Melanie switched up her scarf...something small to add variety to the photos. I am a big fan of scarves!}

Grandma and grandpa were so cute together and grandma had a lot of ideas on what she wanted for photos...like the grandkids below. Not sure if Brodie being silly was in the plans but it brought out the best smiles!}

{All the guys and then all the pretty ladies...}

{I'm trying not to post too many of Sam and Ellah but it's tough:)}

{Just the adults smiley nicely and then being a bit silly.}

{And ending with a few full family shots. I could show so many more photos but you get the idea; great location, beautiful weather, fun people, good times!}

{I had a lot of fun with you all and I'm happy to see what we accomplished in our time together!
Happy 40th Wedding Anniversary to Willy and Diane!}
