Margriet & Jon | Wedding Photos

Oh Margriet and Jon, I do love these two! I taught them both back in grade 9 and their nerdy love for science, as well as their super sweetness, had me smiling all day:) Being that Margriet is a teacher, she took a BUS to the ceremony. Yes, a yellow school bus! Their table seatings? A Periodic Table of Tables! Their favours? Test tubes full of candy. I love it when couples make their wedding so personalized. And one last thing. During the ceremony, Margriet sang `1000 Miles' to Jon so very beautifully. She has an amazing voice. Near the end, she started getting too emotional to finish and they finished the song just holding each other. Tears all around.

I hope you enjoy the photos of their wedding day!

{Margriet and Jon, we had such a good time photographing your wedding. Thank you for having us be part of your day!}

My Kai Bear | Back To School Session

This year is a big year. My oldest son, Kai, has started kindergarten! He loves school and I'm so happy for him. My sister in law gave us this beautiful desk the other day and I knew we had to use it for a photo session. Being that the weather outlook isn't looking so good, I decided at dinner time tonight that we would do photos right afterwards and everyone cooperated (Gary included:)). This is what we got in our five minutes out there...not bad!
{Kai loves reading `Tin Tin' with Gary every night and that is what he's reading above. The photo below is him actually laughing (I know it looks like a yawn but it's his super excited face) about Tin Tin. He thinks it's hilarious with all the `Great Snakes!' or `Blistering Barnacles!'. I don't get it.}
{To get him to smile below, I may have said, `Mario farted.'. He's a big Mario Kart fan.}

Kai Bear, we love you so much!! Thank you for letting me take your picture all the time, you'll appreciate it one day?!

It was so fun to just be able to focus attention on him, to be outside, and to have a sort of styled session. I would love to do a tea party or picnic with a group of little kids too...hopefully the sun returns!

Arthur Rose Park | Family Session

I met with Doug and Ruth on a beautiful summery night this past week. I will miss this warm summer sunshine! The session took place at Arthur Rose Park which is actually a place that they go to all the time which is so perfect. A lot of great memories there for them! Jonathan and Joshua gave me a taste of what it will be like with my boys in a few more years:) They did a great job, especially considering it was rather warm out! Their dog, Ryder, also came along as he is a big part of their family.

Enjoy.

Doug and Ruth, it was great to get to know your boys by doing this session. Also, thanks for introducing me to a new park, I always love discovering new places!

30 Years | Family Session

Wendy and Jan had a family photo session to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary which I always think is a great idea! Their session was at Crescent Beach and then we went to Stewart Farms. When we booked months ago, little did we know how busy it would be on the Long Weekend with 30C weather! It was very bright and very busy. I think it was probably the toughest lighting situation I've had for a family session but we found some shade and made it work. The last time I did their photos, Tyler was just a little guy. Now, he has a little sister; Josie. So sweet. I love photographing little kids:) Enjoy.

As always, so great to see you all!

Shawna & Scott | Granville Island Engagement Session

Shawna and Scott had their engagement session at Granville Island. I love Granville Island. Every time you turn a corner there is a beautiful backdrop. Shawna and Scott are both teachers just like Gary and I! I no longer teach, but I sure think it's wonderful to have those summers off together. And, there is something really wonderful about truly knowing what your spouses day is really like.

They were a little nervous about their session which is so, so normal. I think engagement sessions are so important because it allows us to get to know you (and you, us), how you are as a couple, and what sort of photos you really enjoy. It also helps to alleviate any fear you might have about being photographed and you'll realize it's actually quite fun. You get wonderful photos as an engaged couple which you can use on your wedding day for your guest book/signing, invitations, programs, table numbers etc.

Shawna had 55 mosquito bites from an outdoor wedding the week before (yikes!!) but you can't even tell:) Enjoy this super cute couple.

{Gary and I actually had our photos taken in this alley below, just a month ago. I really like it:)}

{Quick wardrobe change and it was off to the other side of the island...}

{How cute are they under that tree?! Shawna and Scott, I hope that your wedding planning over the next year goes wonderfully. We are looking forward to your big day!}
