Emily & Mark | Surrey Wedding Photos

Emily and Mark.  What a beautiful day and wonderful couple.  There were so many things that I loved about their day; perfect sky ( a `softbox' sky of sun with cloud cover), colourful bridesmaids dresses/bouquets, beautiful locations (I loved the field of lupins at Elgin Heritage Park), the lace wedding dress, an easy going wedding party, the adorable niece and nephew, an emotional `First Look', her ring (ohhhh I love her ring!), the awesome community at the ceremony, and so much more.  What a fantastic way to start off our wedding season.

I put the `First Look' photos after the ceremony with the rest of the portraits in case you are wondering why they look so happy to see each other after the ceremony.  There are a lot of pictures here.  Enjoy!!

PS I just need to tell you that because the greenery was wet in the first picture, this dress was being held up by a hockey stick by the father of the bride!  So innovative.

  

Emily and Mark, congratulations! I hope you had an amazing time in Tofino for your honeymoon.  We loved connecting with you again on the wedding day and we wish you all the best in the years to come.  Thank you for having us along to document your special day!

Dave & Julianne | Mission Engagement Session

Last week I met with Dave and Julianne at Mission's Fraser River Heritage Park for their engagement session.  Gary and I are really looking forward to their wedding in July (so soon!).  I LOVE all of the different connections that we have with them; Dave was in my first Biology 12 class, Gary was his basketball coach, and his mom currently teaches our oldest son, Kai.  Another big one is that Dave's dad gave me my very first photography lesson which inspired me to pick up Gary's `scary' DSLR 9 years ago and try it out.  I can't look at a leading line and not think of that lesson years and years ago.  Oh yes, and one pretty cool similarity is that Dave and Julianne are both teachers and met at the same school which is the exact same story as Gary and I!!

Before looking at these photos I just have to say that one thing I really noticed about this couple is that Julianne completely trusts Dave.  I love that.  Maybe it's because I have a bit of a controlling personality but I tend to like to make the decisions.  Julianne says she just trusts him (to recommend us as photographers, to draw the heart-you'll see, and many more) and I think that is such a wonderful way to start a marriage.  Full of respect.

Big Brother Isaac | Cloverdale Maternity Session

 My sister Jackie (#4 out of 5 since everyone always asks) and her husband Tyler are expecting a baby in July.  They were hoping for a few photos with two year old Isaac to remember this special time in their lives.  Generally a two year old is go, go, go so trying to capture him in the one shady spot in a field of bees was a little tricky but we got a few!  We met up by the Cloverdale Skatepark and hopped into the long (bug/bee/poison ivy filled) grass for probably the shortest session I've ever had.  I think they're cute.  Enjoy.
