Annelise & Rylan | Wedding Day Part II

Annelise & Rylan's big day has another post for the first part of the day, so if you haven't read it, click here. And now, for the formal session and the reception. I love Clayburn Village. It offers so much variety and I'm sure we didn't even use half of what it has. Ready for some variety?

{I love what the guys were wearing. They guys did fabulously in the 35+C weather! Usually for a wedding, either the bridesmaids are freezing or the guys are sweating...in this case, the bridesmaids had it easy:)}

{We actually did shots of the groom with his groomsmen and the bride with her bridesmaids before the ceremony. This allowed them to save half an hour in between the ceremony and reception but still not see each other.}

{You'll see this slow walk again. And, what about the heel click? Not bad!}

{Picture above is Annelise with her sister, Jaclyn. Jaclyn had a great speech at the reception. You'll see Annelise's reaction to it further down. }

{There's a great old playground behind the school house which the wedding party had fun on. Thankfully nobody got hurt...or too dirty!}

{I think my favourite location in Clayburn Village is the chapel. Add a vintage car and it's perfect!!}

{I LOVE the picture above! Totally them and totally different.}

{The bridesmaids suggested lying down and I love the result! No one was afraid of messing up their hair because well, I guess we were done taking pictures and it was just off to the reception.}

{My other favourite location there is this cute little door on the side of the candy shop. Bricks. Greenery. Awesome.}

{Annelise and Rylan really wanted some mountains in their pictures, and we were planning on possibly going up Eagle Mountain, but alas, there was no time. However, I would like to point out that there is a mountain in the background of this picture. Then, it was reception time! The reception took place in the old schoolhouse but after eating it was pretty hot so we ventured outside for the speeches. In order to kiss a guest had to pick a jenga block and do whatever it said on the block. If the jenga pile fell, well, then they had to kiss someone. My sisters ended up singing a song about love and it was...um...interesting.}

{We have at least 10 great pictures like the one above. It's Annelise listening to Jaclyn's Jane Eyre inspired speech. It was a gooder! Then back inside for cake and dancing}

Sami | Family Photos

Sami (Samantha) is my super adorable niece. She is 5 months old and such as sweetie. She rarely cries, actually, I've only heard it once. She is definitely daddy's little girl. When I look at her, I see her daddy. When she smiles, I see her mommy. Jantina, my sister, is the third girl (out of five) in our family and she was our monkey. I can see Sami being a little trouble maker too. I love having this bundle of cuteness in my life and look forward to being able to capture pictures of her over the years to come.

{Jan, good thing everyone is looking at your cute daughter instead of your lovely nail polish job!}

{Sami has inherited the lovely bald gene that exists in our family so Jantina is forever covering her head in various hats and headbands. Enjoy the outfit changes:)}

The picture below and to the right deserves some sort of caption but I just don't feel witty enough. Something like `Can you believe the size of the flower on my head?'. Just bugging you Jan:))

Justin & Alicia | Engagement Session

A few weeks ago, Justin and Alicia were star gazing while lying in the back of the truck. During that time, Justin got down on one knee and proposed! Justin says it was actually more like cloud gazing as they couldn't see any stars and Alicia had no idea he was going to propose at that time. They have a pretty short engagement (so did we!) and we are looking forward to their wedding in January.

{They have a great playfulness with one another and are willing to try anything.}

{During the course of the engagement session, we discovered that we have many more connections than we first thought. I guess that's what happens when you have a few people with dutch backgrounds:)}

{Right away I noticed Alicia's gorgeous smile...can you tell she's a dental assistant?:)}

{Justin is from Smithers and so they were looking for more of a rustic look with fences and barns. Campbell Valley is a great place for that!}



{I really like these pictures taken with an old piece of farm equipment. It may have been a manure spreader, but it looks great!}

Congratulations on your engagement! It was great getting to know you and we'll see you in just a few more months!

Baby Freddie | Family Session

You might remember Steph, Ryan and Ollie from their family pictures earlier in the year. Well, baby Freddie was born and is now 4 months old! He is so super cute. He had a really rough start and nearly didn't make it when he was 10 days old, but thankfully, with some great care at Children's hospital, heart surgery, and a lot of prayer, he is doing wonderfully. We just had a mini session in studio (thankfully, it was raining hard!) and here are a few from our time together.

Is it bad that I find his sad face incredibly cute? Ollie, Kai would love another play date soon! Way to grow, Freddie!

Annelise & Rylan | Wedding Day Part I

Annelise and Rylan got married on August 15th and boy, was it hot out! I usually wait until I've finished editing all of the photos before I post them, but as I'm halfway through, I'm realizing that there a ton that I want to share! So, instead of an overload later on, I'll share the pictures of them getting ready and the ceremony now. You'll just have to wait for their amazing pictures from around Clayburn Village (such a great location!!!), which should be up next week.

Annelise and I have an interesting connection: her mom and my dad were married last year. And in case you're interested, between them they have 7 girls and no boys:) Let's get on with the day....

{Annelise's sister, Jaclyn, made these awesome headpieces for the girls. Cute eh?}

{These girls had an interesting technique going trying to do up the dress, it was awesome. Note that in each picture they are on different sides, meaning, they switched sides instead of just passing each other the tie. Annelise's mom, Joanne, came in and helped them finish it up:)}

{Gary met the boys at the ceremony location; the old schoolhouse in Clayburn Village. I love Rylan's ensemble and the fedora that he wore on and off throughout the day. Annelise also had a few changes throughout the day as she had two very different veils.}

{Instead of having little flower girls, they had young adult flower girls. What a great idea! Their job is to look cute and make sure the aisle is looking pretty and covered in petals...check! Besides, they were old enough to light the candles too:)}

{And then some SUPER cute nephews drove their trucks (with rings attached!) down the aisle. What little boy wouldn't want to do that?!}

{Such a gorgeous venue. Annelise and Rylan are actually living in Northern Alberta right now (where they met) so they had another reception there just this past weekend. Annelise was quite emotional as she took in the whole ceremony which I thought was beautiful.}

{They washed each other's feet as a symbol of servanthood and putting the other person first. It was a touching act and let's be honest, I think we were all jealous of the cool water at this point:) In all seriousness, it was very meaningful.}

{And then, the bubbles were blown as the newly married couple exited!!}

Congratulations Annelise and Rylan, I hope you are settling into your new home nicely and that your second reception went equally well! Sami | Baby Photos

Hi, I'm Sami! I'm 5 months old. My mommy came over to visit auntie Louise today. I got to play with my two wild cousins. When mommy saw the tutu, she said that I had to get a picture or two in it. So, what do you think? Don't tell daddy, he doesn't love me in pink:)
